The primary goal of the Development Core is to recruit, train, and support a vibrant diverse cadre of TB scientists who will provide high impact leadership with major contributions to ending the epidemic.
The Developmental Core oversees current and new programs designed to foster career development of junior or senior investigators that are new to TB research.
Aims:
- Recruit new Seattle trainees to TB research and develop a diverse cadre of future leaders who will impact the TB epidemic.
- Expand knowledge and skills in TB basic science, clinical, and implementation science research. We will provide curricular opportunities with the Clinical & Translational Science, Basic Science, and Data Science Cores which will include workshops and online courses for faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduates, and staff scientists.
- Increase TB research in microbiology, immunology, computational biology, clinical epidemiology, and implementation science in Seattle with catalytic development project awards that generate momentum for independently funded grants.
