SEATRAC consultant, Sarah Iribarren, PhD RN says yes, and for all-around success it is critical to work with local experts on literal and cultural translation.

Using an iterative mixed-methods approach, the app is translated into Indonesian, rebranded through a culturally resonant design competition, and includes feedback from TB nurses, individuals with TB, and local experts.

Important enhancements to the app include usability updates like motivational features, flexible provider interfaces, and added educational content. High usability scores indicate the intervention’s readiness for pilot testing, providing a model for designing impactful, community-centered digital health tools in underserved regions.
